Suzanne Bocanegra & Lili Taylor

In February 2022, artist Suzanne Bocanegra presented Honor, a stage work that masqueraded as an artist lecture about one of The Met’s most important 16th-century tapestries. The show, which featured acclaimed actress Lili Taylor, wove together Bocanegra’s personal narrative and her deep obsession with the colossal tapestry, revealing a multitude of rich characters in the work’s ornate fabric.

Suzanne Bocanegra is an artist best known for her work in performance and installation. She began exhibiting as a painter and sculptor in the 1990s, but in 2010, an invitation to lecture on her work at the Museum of Modern Art became an opportunity to approach the trope of the ‘artist lecture’ as a performative, sculptural installation. Since that moment her work has attempted to blur the boundaries between the “black box” of the theater and the “white box” of the museum.

Lili Anne Taylor is an American actress who is known for her distinctive character roles across independent films, feature films, and television. Her accolades include a Golden Globe Award and three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
