DakhaBrakha | April 11

DakhaBrakha is world music quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine. Reflecting fundamental elements of sound and soul, they have been leaving audiences breathless for more than a decade with their utterly unique mix of musical ideas.

Meaning “give and take” in old Ukrainian, the quartet’s astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted at the crossroads of Ukrainian folklore and theatre. Their musical spectrum is intimate then riotous, plumbing the depths of contemporary roots and rhythms, inspiring cultural and artistic liberation.

N O W I S W H E N W E A R E (the stars) | Andrew Schneider | March 14 – 22, 2025

Inspired by visions of the Milky Way and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms, the stars is an introspective, awe-inspiring journey into a matrix of light. Visitors move from total darkness to immersion in a theatrical constellation of 4,000 reactive points of light and an enveloping 496-channel sound design.

Part meditation, part exploration, an unseen narrator guides each visitor on their own individual journey. Viewers explore traces of themselves in starlight, the universe, and those who have been here before us.

Can I Be Frank? | Morgan Bassichis | April 4 & 5, 2025

In a desperate attempt to prove they can think about someone other than themself, Morgan Bassichis turns to the work of queer comedian, musician, and performance artist Frank Maya in Can I Be Frank? Maya was among the first out gay comedians on network television and on the precipice of mainstream success before he died from AIDS-related complications in 1995. This new “solo” performance humbly attempts to ensure Maya’s legacy is no longer overlooked while finally resolving the bottomless queer search for fame and for father figures, and for laughter in times of crisis. Helen Shaw from The New Yorker calls it “A bitingly funny tribute,” but you’ll have to decide for yourself.
