Alan Garcia + Claudia G. Aparicio Gamundi

Alan Garcia is a lifelong Austinite and a graduate student specializing in archives and preservation at the University of Texas iSchool. Since 2016 he has run the ATX Barrio Archive, an Instagram page dedicated to preserving, sharing, and celebrating the history of Austin’s Black and Brown neighborhoods. He recently curated the exhibit Juntos/Together: Black and Brown Activism in Austin from 1970 – 1983 alongside Rachel E. Winston, Black Diaspora Archivist at UT Austin, for the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center in East Austin. When not engaged in community archiving you can find him at La Perla listening to the jukebox and having drinks with friends.

Claudia G. Aparicio Gamundi is an illustrator and designer currently based in Austin, Tejas. She emigrated with her mom from Mexico to the US at the age of 15. Her work is an ongoing conversation between nostalgia and present experiences, aiming to address current issues while staying grounded in reclaiming her culture.
