Jennifer Davis
“Jennifer Davis is a Minneapolis-based artist known for her imaginative paintings of surreal creatures and whimsical characters. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at venues such as The Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Minneapolis, MN); The DeVos Art Museum (Marquette, MI); Soo Visual Arts Center (Minneapolis, MN); Foster Museum (Eau Claire, WI); Bloomington Art Center (Bloomington, MN); and Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (Boone, NC), as well as several galleries in major cities across the United States.” – Public Functionary
“Endlessly inventive and gently strange, her characters are simultaneously unsettling and endlessly appealing. With tiny eyes and zipper mouths, they bumble haplessly about, falling into dreamy reveries or tumbling into ponds. Davis’ endlessly fertile imagination is well served by her linear style and pale palette.”- Minneapolis Star Tribune
Alpha Consumer
Minneapolis-based three piece, Alpha Consumer have made their fair share of friends in the local scene, collaborating with the likes of Bon Iver, Andrew Bird and Brother Ali, just to name a few. Their own music leans more toward spastic new wave and oddball rock, drawing influences from Talking Heads and DEVO.
MOJO said: “(Alpha Consumer) reminded us of just how great American oddball rock used to be. The Modern Lovers meets Talking Heads but heavier is how we describe Alpha Consumer. In truth, they’re more entertaining than that.” -March 2011.
