Michael Anthony García is a queer, Austin-based interdisciplinary artist originally from El Paso, Texas who claims both Mexican & US citizenship. He focuses his practices around photography/ video, sculpture/ installation & performance & poetry. He participated in the 2011 & 2024 Texas Biennials, premiered work in various galleries and art spaces such as The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Experimental Action Performance Festival, The Contemporary Austin, SoundSpace at The Blanton Museum of Art, Fusebox Festival, El Museo de la Ciudad de México, & ThreeWalls in Chicago. García is a founding member of the Los Outsiders curatorial collective. Garcia has also won awards both for his curatorial & 3D work, co-hosted an intersectional conversation podcast named El Puente and is publisher for POCa Madre Magazine.
