Recycled Sounds: Installations

Steve Parker + Austin SoundWaves

Recycled Sounds is a project that creates novel, recycled instruments and installs them in unexpected public places. Working with students and faculty from Austin SoundWaves, artist Steve Parker will lead a series of workshops that explore improvisation, composition, acoustics, and instrument construction.

The project will culminate with a public performance featuring students from the Austin SoundWaves orchestra and the installation of large scale instruments created by students and faculty from Austin SoundWaves, Steve Parker, and collaborating artists Jebney Lewis and Travis Weller.

Performance: Monday April 21 @ 6.30pm, City Hall Plaza Instrument Sculptures / Installations: Monday April 21 – Sunday April 27, City Hall Parking Garage

This project is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Economic Development Department/Cultural Arts Division believing an investment in the Arts is an investment in Austin’s future. Visit Austin at NowPlayingAustin.com.
