Live in America Festival

The first Live in America Festival took place in June of 2022 at the Momentary in Northwest Arkansas. Communities from across the U.S., its territories, and Mexico gathered to share and celebrate the power of communities in performance.

The Live in America Festival gathered artists and thinkers from across America’s distinctive cultural landscape to share and celebrate the power of communities in performance. This festival of live performance and cultural practice in 2022 featured more than 300 artists from a diverse array of communities: Las Vegas, Nevada; Ciudad Juárez, Mexico-El Paso, Texas border region; Northwest Arkansas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Sumter Co. Alabama; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Detroit, Michigan; the Pueblo, Diné, Hopi, and Apache Nations of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in partnership with Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island.

From Two-Spirit powwows to queer Caribbean cabarets, from New Orleans bounce music to Detroit blues, from fantastical Vegas light scapes to the layered sounds of Border bridges, Live in America empowers its diverse teams of artists to present art built by their communities, grounded in community practice, and serving community purposes. With these performances and cultural practices, the artists of Live in America ask audiences to consider, connect, and create exchange.

Live in America, Springdale

Excited to build upon established relationships in Northwest Arkansas nurtured while creating the first Live in America Festival, our team developed Live in America, Springdale. Live in America, Springdale serves as a residency program that transforms the festival’s ethos into a year-round, arts-family practice that contributes to the Springdale community via artistic growth, communal sharing, and warm hospitality.

  • Live in America Festival artists visit the residency to host workshops and break bread with local community members.
  • Our team creates small-scale live performance and visual arts programming at the residency and around Springdale.
  • Live in America, Springdale collaborates with a team of local creatives to communally grow our artistic, producorial, and arts administration skills.
  • Artist Justin Favela’s studio serves as a community hub for visual artists and as a paid-training space for early career visual artists.

Live in America, Springdale hopes to collaboratively contribute to Springdale’s creative community and to grow a big-in-spirit network of artistic relationships that stretches across North America.
