Christine Sun Kim

New York-based artist Christine Sun Kim uses the medium of sound through technology to investigate and rationalize her relationship with sound and spoken languages. She holds an MFA in Sound/Music from Bard College and works on sound art in diverse forms of performance, installation, and lectures to reclaim “the ownership of sound,” explore oral languages as “social currency,” and unlearn “sound etiquette.”

In addition, her drawings were featured in the 2013 Museum of Modern Art exhibition Soundings: A Contemporary Score and she was the recipient of a TED2013 fellowship. This commission by the VAC & The Church of the Friendly Ghost is her first project in Austin, Texas.
