Deborah S Esquenazi + Carra Martinez
Deborah S. Esquenazi (Director) is an Austin, Texas-based documentary film and radio producer, video artist, and instructor. Her films highlight criminal and social justice. Esquenazi was a Sundance Documentary Film Fellow at the Sundance Festival in 2014. She is currently working on two ArtPlace America projects. Esquenazi’s work has been supported by Sundance|MacArthur Foundation, Astraea Global Arts Fund, PBS and the Paul Robeson Fund for independent media, among others.
Carra Martinez (Producer and Writer) is a collaborative theatre artist, educator, and PhD candidate in Theatre Historiography at the University of Minnesota. Currently based in Austin, Martinez is completing her dissertation and working as the Artist and Scholar-in-Residence for Fusebox Festival. As a performer and collaborator, she was work with Austin-based companies like Fusebox Festival, Salvage Vanguard Theater, the Rude Mechs, and Refraction Arts; in Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, Penumbra Theatre, and The Playwrights’ Center. As an educator, Martinez has taught for seventeen years at the middle school, high school, and university levels.
