Leah Cox

Leah Cox (she/her/hers) is a dancer, performance maker, and educator. She is the lead creator and solo performer in Group Therapy, which was presented by the American Dance Festival in 2025. In 2023, she created Failure Collective, an annual interdisciplinary, intergenerational workshop that explores the creative possibilities that arise when we embrace failure and work in unfamiliar contexts. Cox’s previous projects and positions include: dancer/collaborator in Liz Lerman’s Wicked Bodies (2022), Dean of the American Dance Festival (2015–2022), Education Director for New York Live Arts, member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company (2001–2015), first as a company member (2001–2009), then as the inaugural education director. She was a member of the New York Dance and Performance Awards committee (the “Bessies,” 2015–2018). Cox is currently an associate professor at The University of Texas at Austin.
