BOOM! BOOM! WHAMMM! SWOOSH!

IRVIN MORAZAN

For one day only, an all-female motorcycle club the ‘L.O.W Riders’ will ride from San Antonio to Austin to create an urgent, harmonious BOOM! BOOM! WHAMMM! SWOOSH! sound inside an empty parking garage. The site serves as a vehicle to amplify the sound of the roaring motorcycles along with the screams of participating audience members. Artist Irvin Morazan will conduct the sound and orchestrate the movements of around 30 performers that are directly affected by the current political climate while wearing a custom-built sculptural headdress. The headdress is a hybrid sculpture combining Morazan’s Mayan indigenous/mestizo background with absurdity, fiction, animism, subcultures and contemporary culture.

BOOM! BOOM! WHAMMM! SWOOSH! offers a cleansing effect similar to the ancient sound healing practices of a Gong Bath that uses vibrational sound and frequency to help reduce stress, alter consciousness, and create a deep sense of peace and well being.

BOOM! BOOM! WHAMMM! SWOOSH! is a ritual cleansing/ scream session against racism, xenophobia, homophobia and gender discrimination.
