Building Bondad: Cultivating Compassion Through Shared Experiences of Austin, Tejas Saturday, April 20, 11A–5P Free, all ages, family-friendly

Deeply exploring their mission and the notion of place-keeping, Chulita Vinyl Club ATX and their invited collaborators will utilize Abraham Cruzvillegas’s exhibition as a site for storytelling, conversation, and music. Gather with CVC ATX for an all-day, family-friendly event, beginning with a morning meditation honoring the land, its uses, and the history of downtown Austin, followed by live storytelling sessions from community members. The public is encouraged to bring photographs, artwork, and paper ephemera to contribute to a large-scale banner highlighting the people, places, and things that illustrate Austin to them. There will also be a video and audio booth set up for folks to drop in and record their own accounts of life past and present in Texas’s capital city.

By taking an active role in the care and maintenance of Austin’s social fabric by learning from the people who live and work here, CVC ATX will bring to life the concept of bondad, or graciousness. CVC ATX understands that maintaining a historical legacy is not just about preserving buildings, but also safeguarding the cultural memories associated with a place.

Al explorar profundamente su misión y la noción de mantenimiento de lugares, Chulita Vinyl Club ATX y sus colaboradores invitados utilizarán la exhibición de Abraham Cruzvillegas como un sitio para contar historias, conversar y escuchar música. Reúnase con CVC ATX para un evento que dura todo el día y será ideal para familias, comenzando con una meditación matutina en honor a la tierra, sus usos y la historia del centro de Austin, seguido de sesiones de narración en vivo por parte de miembros de la comunidad.
