Allysen Hooks is a dance artist working in improvisational methods to articulate thought-feeling-sensation in the body. Her choreographic work has been commissioned and performed nationally and internationally. Through her 17 years in NYC, Allysen received a BFA from The Juilliard School, an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, and was a member of contemporary dance company GALLIM for over a decade. Now in her home state of Texas, she channels her experience and vision into building a dance company with local dance artists in Austin. Through rigorous physical research and a reimagining of traditional dance aesthetics, Allysen Hooks Projects merges contemporary dance and performance art. Allysen is dedicated to artist sustainability, offering professionalized work to her collaborators.
