MATERIALS LAB

The Materials Lab at The University of Texas at Austin soa.utexas.edu/resources/matlab is a multidisciplinary resource center with a primary mission to promote material investigation in design. It houses the world’s largest academic collection of materials, with over 28,000 circulating samples of traditional, innovative, and sustainable products.

Jen Wong has served as director and curator of the Materials Lab since 2013. As principal designer for Neo-neon, she directs a group of undergraduate and graduate student researchers from the School of Architecture involved in the design, fabrication, and installation of the project.
