Never and Both

YULIYA LANINA

“Never and Both” invites the viewer to enter the Bosch-like fantastical paradigm of bizarre creatures and landscapes. All images are hand painted and then animated on the computer. Yuliya Lanina’s work is inspired by the Surrealist and Dada approach to creating images, with the subconscious taking the lead and leaving analytical thinking behind and by embracing the nonsensical and surprising.

From Fusebox Yuliya Lanina paints wondrous, hybrid creatures and fantastical worlds which she brings to life through animation. She recently premiered the multi-channel projection Never and Both at the High Line in New York, and we’re thrilled that she’ll be bringing this universe to our Fusebox Hub.
