About Fusebox

Fusebox is an Austin-based nonprofit committed to nurturing bold live performances and art.

We connect artists and audiences through rich artistic experiences situated across the city, ranging from intimate galleries and theaters, to unexpected sites like basketball courts, parking garages, sides of buildings, and strange empty lots.

Through residencies, salons, year-round performances, and a city-wide biennial festival, Fusebox serves as a launching pad for artists whose work blurs disciplines, reimagines public space, and deepens the cultural life of Austin.

Fusebox was founded in 2005 by a group of artists. That artist-led perspective continues to inform everything we do.

A Closer Look At Our Programs

• Exploring the possibilities of festivals: Fusebox has spent the past 22 years expanding the possibilities of what a festival can be by rooting it deeply in our city, its people, and the unique artistic and cultural practices that shape Austin.

• Nurturing a vibrant global hub: Through our biennial festival and year-round programs, we transform Austin into a vibrant hub for live performance and art, connecting local artists and audiences with groundbreaking work from around the world.

• Direct investment in artists: Artists are at the center of everything we do. Artist fees are our single largest festival expense, and we invest in their work through commissions, space, equipment, professional development, and one-on-one support.

• Building community through partnership: Everything we do is collaboration. We work alongside artists, organizations, and neighbors to create projects that strengthen relationships and connection.

Land Acknowledgement

Fusebox honors the Indigenous peoples who have shaped this land long before us. We recognize that Austin sits on the traditional lands of the Tonkawa, Lipan Apache, Comanche, and Coahuiltecan peoples, and we pay our respect to their ancestors and living descendants. We are committed to deepening our relationship with Indigenous communities through art, learning, and care.
