YANHUITLÁN: LA DEMOCRACIA ÉN MÉXICO (1965-2015)

Lagartijas Tiradas Al Sol

Yanhuitlán is a film and music project created with a group of Oaxacan children from the Yivi Project in Santo Domingo, Yanhuitlán. The story narrates the adventures of the Ñuu Savi ruler (cacique or iya) “7 Monkey”, who lived in their village almost 500 years ago.

Yanhuitlán is a part of the larger “Democracy in Mexico (1965-2015)” project led by Lagartijas Tiradas Al Sol. For this ambitious endeavor the artists will create one piece about each state of the Mexican Republic dealing with different experiences of Mexican democracy. The 32 ‘portraits’ will look at the social, historical, biographical and fictional perspectives of Mexico.
